Individual Consultation

It’s important that a full and comprehensive consultation takes place before the treatment begins.

Consultation forms include:

  • General Consent and Procedure
  • Medical – including contraindications that will be discussed to make sure it is safe to continue.
  • Doctor’s Consent – written consent from your GP will be requested if you have any serious ailments.
  • Terms and Conditions
  • You will also be given a sensitivity test to check that you are not reactive to the pigment or anaesthetic used during your treatment.

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for permanent cosmetics; your technician will only carry out the procedure when they are satisfied that any contraindications will not affect your wellbeing.

Whether you want an eyebrow, eyeliner, lip or medical tattoo, we will always perform a complete and detailed consultation. Your technician will discuss which procedure(s) you would like and your expectations for the end results. The pigment choices will be explored and tried on your skin, to ensure the most suitable colour is chosen. An outline will be drawn on the enhancement area, so that you can see it in advance and give your approval. When you are confident of both the outline and the colour, the treatment can commence.

Treatment

The treatment usually consists of 2 sessions – the initial application of your permanent cosmetics and the finetune session. Finetuning is done within 3 months after the initial treatment to perfect the enhancement and make sure that you are completely happy with the end result.

Although the application of permanent makeup is not completely pain free, discomfort during your treatment can be kept to a minimum with the use of topical anaesthetic creams and gels.

For your treatment, we will be using the best machines currently in the market. Needles that have a one-time use get disposed of afterwards, to ensure that there is no cross-contamination. Our work adheres to all strict hygiene requirements.

The treatment takes approximately 2 to 2 & 1/2 hours, including the consultation.

Colourboosts

After your initial treatment and fine tune session, your enhancement should last approximately 1 to 3 years. The longevity of the pigment’s appearance beneath your skin is predominantly influenced by factors such as skin type, treatment method, medication, and environmental elements, including sun exposure and lifestyle choices. Therefore, at some point you will need a colourboost to maintain your enhancement.

We provide a range of time frames to cater to your preferences. It is strongly recommended to get annual colourboosts (every 12 to 18 months) to maintain a fresh and defined enhancement without overloading your skin with too much pigment. We also offer colourboosts every 19 to 24 months or 25 to 36 months, for individuals who desire a softer and more natural looking enhancement. Please make sure to book your colourboost appointment at least 3 to 4 months in advance because there is normally a waiting list!

What you need to know:

It’s important to add that ‘too many’ colourboosts (for example, every 9 months) will create multiple layers of pigment beneath your skin, even if it is not visible at the surface. This build-up over time does not allow room for more pigment to settle, causing the new hairstrokes to blend with the old hairstrokes during the healing process. At this stage, you will need to wait a longer duration between colourboosts or have some pigment lifted to allow for more.

Some long-term clients have said that after 7-10 sets of colourboosts, their pigment does not stay as vibrant for as long as it used to. This is most likely due to…

  • Skin aging over time – when the skin thins, it has less collagen.
  • Body changes – pregnancy, menopause or hormonal changes.
  • Sun damage or developing skin problems (for example, Rosacea or Psoriasis).
  • Build-up of colour over many years of repetitive colourboosts too close together.
  • Medications, operations or lifestyle changes.

Final things to note:

If you receive your annual reminder but aren’t sure if you need a colourboost, please contact us rather than booking an appointment as we don’t want to waste your time.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to follow the strict care advice (preparation and aftercare) if you’d like your enhancements to last longer. Wearing SPF50 on your enhancement is crucial, as the sun is the main reason for pigment fading.
